BERKELEY -- As the nation's awareness of the deaths of unarmed black people at the hands of white police officers increases,one sister, some Berkeley residents are bringing local attention to the more mundane injustices they claim local law enforcement regularly inflicts on the black community.

LORETTA LYNCH. Last week President Obama presented his nominee for U.S. attorney general, succeeding outgoing Eric Holder. Oz will be coming to Ridgecrest this holiday season with the eighth annual showing at the West Oz House.On Christmas Eve, residents will be able to drive through the Emerald City Block where people dressed as Munchkins and characters from Oz will give out cookies and candy at the historic West Oz House. According to Lyle Gregory, host of the event, everything will take place in front of the house, and the inside will be restricted. We cannot open the house to all who wish to see inside,"I make some bad, Gregory said.He estimated over 1,000 people pass by the house every year on Christmas Eve, and the event is something the community looks forward to every year. He also said he and his family have been proud to present the event for the last eight years.The event will take place at the West Oz House in the Emerald City Block at the intersection of Downs Street and West Church Avenue from 6 to 10 p.m.
